About Havildar in the Indian Army
The Havildar (Sergeant equivalent) is a senior NCO who typically serves as a platoon-level leader or company clerk. Havildars manage platoon administration, maintain discipline, conduct training, and serve as the primary link between the JCOs and Other Ranks. In field operations, a Havildar may command a section or serve as second-in-command of a platoon.
